Most people expect a crypto and AI company to sit in a glass tower downtown, badge readers at the elevator, a skyline view nobody looks at after the first week. We put ours on Bacon Street in Ocean Beach, walkable to the sand, with art in the windows instead of a lobby directory.

That was not an accident and it was not a lifestyle choice dressed up as strategy. It is the strategy.

A neighborhood, not a district

Downtown financial districts are built for meetings. Ocean Beach is built for people who actually live somewhere, who surf before work and walk their dog after it, who have been suspicious of extractive institutions for a long time before anyone was talking about self-custody. That suspicion is not a marketing angle here — it is the same instinct that makes someone hold their own keys instead of trusting an exchange, or ask what a model provider actually does with a conversation. Ocean Beach has been asking those questions about banks and landlords and developers for decades. Sovereignty language lands differently in a room that already distrusts concentrated custodians.

Storefronts build trust that offices don’t

A downtown office proves you can pay rent. A storefront on a street people walk every day proves you show up. Our door is open, our windows have real art in them, and the people inside are the same people who answer the phone. That is a different kind of credibility than a pitch deck, and it is one that compounds slowly, the way neighborhood trust always does.

Builders need a place, not just a Slack channel

The Builder Program is built around sessions where someone sits down with you and works on the actual thing — not a webinar, not a course you abandon in week two. That only works if there is a place to sit down. A coastal storefront where the Wednesday gathering spills onto the sidewalk does more for that than a conference room with a view of a parking structure ever could.

Forward deployed means somewhere

“Creativity. Forward Deployed.” is not a slogan for a hallway poster. It describes where the work happens: in the room, with the maker, at the counter, not in a quarterly review. Ocean Beach is where that posture makes sense — a place already full of independent builders, artists, and people making a living with their hands, who now also want to understand what a distributed ledger or a sovereign model actually does for them.

We did not move here to be quirky. We moved here because the neighborhood already believes the things we are trying to build: hold your own keys, know what ran where, show up in person.

Come see the storefront for yourself and start with a real project — check out the Builder Program.
